The park area where you find the best dive sites are quite big but not huge. With a boat trip in Komodo you can pretty much experience the best activities and diving just by doing day trips from Labuan Bajo. The most common scuba diving day trips in Komodo is organized 3 dives, breakfast & lunch. At Mikumba diving we start the day early by meeting up outside our dive center at 6.30 in the morning. When all the divers is gathered we make our way down to the harbor where the boat is waiting for us. It’s an amazing feeling to step on the boat, make yourself a coffee knowing you’re about to experience the beautiful diving in Komodo!

The best diving is further central in the park and usually takes 2 hour to get to, it gives you that quiet golden morning time to enjoy the amazing scenery of Komodo island. At 9am it’s time to gear up and start our Komodo diving day! Usually we start with one of the more quitter sites with less current but stunning marine life! After the dive we enjoy the sun warming before the second dive which can sometime be manta point to go look for those amazing big mantarays with are famous for the diving in Komodo. Coming up from the second dive usually we’re hungry and more than ready for some lunch! In those moments we’re very happy to have our own chef onboard. He’s cooking local delicious foods like chicken curry, vegetable woks with rise and noodles. After lunch we have a little rest before it’s time for the last dive around 2pm. Depending on the currents we choose a suitable dive sites to enjoy. During our diving in Komodo we frequently encounter sharks, mantas, turtles and many more amazing creatures. If we’re lucky we see dolphins, dugongs & whales!

After the third dive we enjoy the ride back to labuan bajo in the sunset. We offer some snacks, coffee or beer and our dive masters usually takes out the guitar to play some tunes. We love to have a little sing-a-long on the way back with our guests! When we get closer to the harbor this is where our day unfortunately is over.. For some people 1 day is enough, many just craving for more and if you know already you will, we suggest to look into doing a budget liveaboard in Komodo instead!
